I got a phone call on Sunday at about noon reminding me about the big parade which was taking place in town. Basically loads of people in traditional costumes with marching bands and floats, etc. Sounded to me like I was going to see dozens of beautiful women in Dirndls. So I grabbed the camera and headed out. Sadly that was not the case, but it was still very enjoyable and a good way to spend a couple of hours on a Sunday.
I caught up with the parade at Ludwigsplatz just before they reached the entrance to the Wiesn.
As appears to be usual in these situations, in fact in any situations, you have a very beautiful cop in control of things.
At the head of the parade was the Münchener Kindl (or Child of Munich) which is the symbol of Munich.
The 'Kindl' in this instance was a very attractive blonde on a very large and slightly aggressive horse.
And so, on with the parade...
