09.05.06 - Ok, this is definitely the longest gap ever between updates. Shall be taking stock of the site over the next few days, adding a LOT of new photo galleries and generally sorting my online shit out.

As many of you know my personal situation has changed dramatically over the last few months and it's now time to start getting things back on a proper track. If you are not familiar with the recent developments then drop me a mail and I'll give you the inside story. Actually now that I think about it there're quite a few people I've neglected on the mailing front over the past while so I shall try to address that too. I've been quite selfish with my time of late through necessity.

Munich is slowly dragging itself into some semblance of spring. The last of the snow didn't leave us until the beginning of April which marks it down as one of the longest winters ever. Certainly since I've come to call Munich home. Fingers crossed we'll get some good grilling weather and I can scrape last years burnt offerings off the BBQ and fire it up again.

Anyway, pop an eye in from time to time for what will hopefully much more regular updates from the land of laptops & lederhosen.

p.s. The Androv Dessous link below is the website of a mate of mine. If you're looking high quality sexy underwear for the slightly larger lady then he's your man. Alternatively if you just like looking at pictures of hot women in their skimpies then you could do much worse.

29.07.05 - As most of you probably know already I am now back in Munich. There are plenty of things I miss about Stockholm but definitely I am much happier to be 'home'. We moved into our new apartment at the beginning of July and it's been non-stop home improvement and DIY since. It's amazing the difference you feel between renting and owning a place. The summer here has been very on-off with regards to the weather. It's becoming the norm in Munich that Monday to Friday between about 8am and 5pm you will have beautiful hot sunshine and clear blue skies and then in the evenings and on the weekend it'll piss it down. Having said that, the last few days have been perfect and there's been more than one beer garden visit. Last night we were over at Waldwirtschaft (WaWi) which was excellent. Have added one new gallery from a Chili-Cookoff that we entered last weekend.Click here to have a looksee at how it went. Hopefully I'll start doing more regular updates now that I am back. That is of course once we get the office sorted out and I get all my kit hooked up. Until then...

05.06.05 - We're well established into June now and I find myself still in Stockholm after almost a year. You can see my first impressions of the place here. Compared to then, the weather at the moment is seriously shite. Unless it races up above about 25 degrees and stops raining by June 8th (four days time) I'll be lodging a serious complaint with the government. Speaking of complaints, I have been two months now trying to get my ADSL connection moved from my old apartment in Kungsholmen to the new place in Solna. It's been a torrid saga of misunderstanding, inefficiency and misinformation. Painful is the only way to describe it. The latest guesstimate is that I should have it by around June 18th. In the meantime I've logged up hours on the phone to customer care and lots of cash on crappy dial-up connections. Seriously disgruntled customer. Anyway, there's some new photos for your viewing pleasure. Went on a company conference to Sandhamn. Click here to have a looksee.

15.05.05 - This year seems to be flying past at a frightening rate. I guess they all do really. Got some more gallery pages updated. We've got Linda & Kieran's wedding in Dublin, and then Esther & Jean-Claude's wedding in Munich. And of course, the 80's Party at the Twisted Bavarian. As for the Average Irish Lad Abroad he's made it as far as South America now.

Things are going well at the moment but still very hectic. I'm still in Stockholm and Kathrin is still in Munich finishing her final exams. It's been pretty tough being apart all this time but we're surviving and making the best of the situation. Hopefully we'll be together in the same country soon. Which country that'll be is still open for debate.

27.03.05 - Hmmm, now I can see how long it has been since I've last updated this page. Head over to the galleries page for photos from New Year's Eve in Stockholm, Munich in January & February and the latest photos from our March visit to Calahonda. In fairness the galleries often get updated more often than this section so probably best to look there even if there are no updates here, if ya know what I mean. Plus, don't forget to keep an eye on the adventures of the Average Irish Lad Abroad who is currently in Australia.

09.01.05 - Just finished sorting through the photos from Christmas in Calahonda. You can have a looksee by clicking here. It's the end of the first week back at work in Stockholm now and everything is pretty much back to normal after the holiday period. Or at least as normal as things ever get. The year ended with the terrible events in Asia which claimed so many lives and affected many more. Read here for an amazing first-hand account from one person who was out there.

So now we move into 2005 and lets see what these next 12 months bring with them!

03.01.05 - My first update of 2005 and a Happy New Year to anyone reading this! I know there are at least a few of you out there. Don't have a clue how many as the stats are badly skewed due to the Polish spammers, those pesky kids. Just wanted to let you know that in Spain over the Christmas (December 26th to be precise....at approximately 10:30pm.....after sevorial bottles of wine...) myself & Kathrin got officially engaged. "Officially" insofar as I got down on one knee, made as well-phrased a proposal as one can make, proferred a suitable ring and she happily answered in the affirmative. Thankfully I was then able to get back up off my knee (without too much trouble), open the previously organised champagne and proceed to get merrily & mightily marinaded with appropriate oohing & aahing noises provided by the other clientelle. So, auf Deutsch, wir sind jetzt verlobt!

14.12.04 - For those of you who've not heard, the good Smithy is undertaking a fairly mammoth round-the-world trip at the moment. Have a look at this link to follow his exploits. I'm hosting the site with Smithy sending in reports & photos on a regular basis. So the text is directly from the man himself in his own very unique style. Enjoy!

22.11.04 - Crikey, two updates in less than seven days. I might start getting accused of updating this site regularly! Just back from a great weekend in Amsterdam. Click Here to have a look at the photos. Incidentally Stockholm is still bloody freezing and still covered in snow. For those of you who love the stuff (you know who you are Mr. Caulfield) you should really consider a visit. Not much in the way of skiing around town but if you like the white stuff (just to clarify I do mean snow, yes the white wet cold stuff) you won't be disappointed.

18.11.04 - It's my birthday today. Just turned 32. I feel exactly the same as I did when I was 25. That'd be tired, creaky and fit for the knackers yard. Nah, just kidding, I'm actually feeling pretty damn good at the moment. Apart from the weather situation that is. It's about -8 degrees celcius (that's about 17 Fahrenheit) and there's a snow storm raging outside which started about 10pm yesterday. Not my ideal birthday weather by any stretch of the imagination. They say it'll clear up though...round about April, yikes!

10.11.04 - Has it really been two months since I last wrote anything here? Am still in Stockholm and the winter is slowly starting to take a grip. It's gone from wearing a t-shirt to work, through a shirt with light jacket and now to shirt and the big coat. It'll be hat and gloves next and soon after I may even have to start wearing trousers. There's more pictures on the Galleries page from my recent trip to Munich. It was a rather boozy weekend due to Erik's leaving do, a new bar pre-opening party and Halloween night but we struggled through. We'll be off to Amsterdam soon for a little trip away as both myself and Kathrin will be passing another year on this mortal coil at the end of next week. Christ the years are flying in now. I've been gone out of Ireland for just over 6 years now. Vienna, Munich, Paderborn (briefly) and now Stockholm. I think next I'll have to pick somewhere which doesn't have such feckin' cold winters.  Ger, are there any jobs going out your way?

10.08.04 - Ok, I know I've been lax on the updates front. Sorry about that. Have a looksee on the Galleries page for quite a few updates over the last couple of months. It's the whole Stockholm thing that's throwing me out of whack. I've reverted to having to use a 56k dial-up connection for a while which is doing my head in. I'm waiting for an 8 Meg DSL connection but it's a bit slow in the coming. Once that's up and running (if it ever happens) I'll be back on track with lots of photos and updates from here in Stockholm and much more. Oh yeah, in case anyone doesn't know, I'm now living and working in Sweden. I've a lot to tell about that too but it'll have to wait for a little while. Back soon

We are now the owners of a little kitten with a serious shoe fetish. Here's the little monster himself. He goes by the name of Greebo. He's two months old and a complete maniac. Basically he has two modes of operation. Sleep mode and full attack mode.

Welcome to the new-look Keydeck.com. All the old content should still be here (hopefully), just in different clothing. If there's anything missing then please feel free to let me know. Also, if you could give me a bit of feedback on the new look it's be much appreciated. Like it, hate it, miss the bricks and Mickey Mouse pointers, whatever, I'm interested to know.

Thanks,

Rog.

13.05.04 - Had to buy some minced lamb yesterday. See I'm getting into the whole cooking malarky and have a book that my mother gave me. It's really the most idiot-proof cook book I've ever seen and chock full of fantastic recipes. So yesterday evenings culinery extravaganza was going to be Greek Lamb Pie which necessitated the purchasing of some minced lamb (or Lamm Hackfleisch), 450g of it to be precise. Munich is a pork based town. they tolerate beef because there's a large Muslim population and because cows look good in touristy Alpine photos. Asking for lamb at the meat counter in Tenglemann's was a waste of time as I knew, but had to be done since I was in there anyway. I got myself off down to the little Turkish shop opposite my old apartment on Schwanthalerstr. The assumption being that Turks have to need lamb, they just have to. After queueing for an eternity (the two people in front of me each bought over 2kg of mince) I got to the counter and made my request "450g of minced lamb please" (of course in my bestist German). He selected a piece from in front of him and cut the meat from the bone before lobbing it into the mincer. Once done it came to 405g. He asked if this was ok to which I replied that I had asked for 450g. He said it's always a little bit more or less. I said that it was 20% less than I needed and just not bloody good enough. So then he goes into a moan about how difficult it is to cut it off the bone in the first place. I could see that this was going nowhere. Anyway, he offers me the other 50g in minced beef, at which point I gave in and said fair enough, whatever. Tonight we're having minced beef. It's a lot less hassle. Incidentally the lamb pie was fantastic. Filo pastry is simply the dogs bollocks!

09.05.04 - Just added a page for a great apartment on the Costa Del Sol which is now for sale. Click Here for details. A great opportunity for someone looking for a place in the sun!

08.05.04 - A few updates which I haven't previously mentioned. Click Here for photos from Erik's birthday on 29th April, click here for the Wassermann's party on 30th April and click here for some photos from a wander around Dublin city on 6th May. Enjoy!

28.04.04 - Click here for a few photos from the opening night of a refurbished Japanese restaurant here in town which we attended on Monday evening. Free beer and free food. Not to shabby at all

26.04.04 - Added two new galleries to the site. The first is from the Toytown Munich party at Zweite-Heimat. Good night, bad place. The second set of photos if from a fantastic day out at Andechs on the 24th of April. Great stuff! Incidentally if you hadn't noticed the links below this box, check them out. Particularly the Oktoberfest 2004 site which I currently have under development.

19.04.04 - Click Here for photos from Cindy & Sean's birthday dinner in la Boheme. An excellent night had by all.

Have a looksee at my guide to Oktoberfest. I know it's not until September, but if you're thinking of attending then you'd wanna start getting organised as soon as possible. Click Here to check out the page. It's currently under development so I'd appreciate any feedback, suggestions and comments that you may have in terms of what's there, what should be there and so on.

Hosting-Unlimited.net provide one of the best value for money webhosting services that I've seen...anywhere. Click Here to find out all about the services that they offer. I've been with them for a couple of years now and am completely satisfied and regularly impressed with the quality of the service.

07.04.04 - Uploaded a set of photos from Irina's birthday bash at Julep's restaurant. Click here to see how it went. I've also got a load of photos from my visit to Ireland last week. They'll be up shortly.

24.03.04 - Eventually got around to sorting out and uploading three pages of photos from our Christmas trip to Calahonda. Ok so I'm almost 3 months late with them. I don't get paid for this you know! Click here to see what we got up to.

19.03.04 - Click Here to see the rest of the St. Patrick's Day photos. These were on Paddy's Day itself in Kilian's pub.

17.03.04 - Happy St. Patrick's Day! Here's my little St. Patrick's Day page. It got me in trouble with some American plastic paddy's because they said I was demeaning my own people by including the "Guide to surviving St. Patricks Day" and actively telling Irish jokes. Also they said that I was degrading my nationality and showing my self-loathing by living with a German. Riiiight. Some people really are badly fcuked in the head. Anyway, moving swiftly on from such idiotic nonsense, Happy St. Patrick's Day to all and I hope you enjoy it wherever you are. From my folks in Wicklow to Ger out in Thailand, and everyone in between and around the sides, I'll raise a glass to you.

On a completely seperate note, here's a link to a page for my new motor and finally, if you're interested at all in Orthomolecular Medicine AND you can speak German, then this page might just be for you..

16.03.04 - I know that Wednesday is officially St. Patrick's Day. However, we had the parade and main festivities here in Munich yesterday (Sunday) since we don't have a holiday for it...yet. Click Here to view the mayhem that was. We'll be back out on Wednesday evening too though

09.03.04 - What with having a bit of free time on my hands, I've finally managed to get the photos from our weekend in Elzach sorted out. Click Here to see two pages of photos and story from an excellent weekend. Now if only I could get the Christmas photos in order...

01.03.04 - Click Here for the photos from the Boys Night Out on Saturday night.

28.02.04 - Just uploaded some photos from the Toytown party in L-Lounge-2 on Thursday night just gone. Click Here to have a looksee.

The North Wind doth blow, And we shall have snow,

And what shall the poor robin do then?

Poor thing!

He'll sit in the barn,And keep himself warm,

And hide his head under his wing,

Poor thing!

02.02.04 - "Start the day the Flahavan's Way, The natural way to start the day, the fibre rich way to start the day on a cold and frosty morning.". Anyone remember that? Anyways, Monday morning and another weekend done & dusted. Had dad visiting from Friday 'till Sunday morning. Also Brian & Nida were in town for a couple of days. 'Twas a bit of a Murphy invasion! Did Augustiner Keller with Bernd & Liz on Friday night and Weißesbrauhaus on Saturday. Gotta love that Bavarian food :-) Need a rest now. Photos? Of course I've got lots of photos, but as usual they most likely won't be posted for ages yet. Still gotta sort the Christmas ones first! Oh, forgot to mention I've quit smoking. After a couple of pre & post-Christmas false starts, I've finally gone for it. It's now been 13 days since my last cigarette. I faltered once and had a half a drag of someone else on Friday night, but apart from that I've been 100% clean. Not counting my chickens just yet as there's many a slip 'twixt the cup and the lip, but at €3 a pack what I have counted is just over €40 that I've not inhaled. To Julian the "Jamaican in New York", I told you I'd do it evenutally :-)

28.01.04 - Munich Webcam looking down onto Marienplatz with the Rathaus on the right. Updated every 60 seconds or thereabouts.

Oh and Happy Birthday Mammy!!!

The original list got lost in transit, so if you registered before, please do so once again (note that the button on the main screen doesn't work anymore). Thanks.

Incidentally, I recently noticed that by far the most popular page on this site is the "Max Planck Diet" page. Apparently a lot of people search for this and my site seems to top the list. Maybe I should give it another whirl and update the page again with the second try.
